Jake Lasko
Jake co-founded Defiance Capital in 2020 alongside Mark, following a fourteen-year career in commercial banking. He brings a practical, relationship-driven approach to investor lending, focused on clear communication and problem solving.
Jake leads business development, working closely with clients to understand their projects and ensure a smooth lending experience. He walks investors through the process when needed, especially those newer to alternative financing, without losing momentum on execution.
Outside of work, Jake spends time with his wife and two boys. He enjoys early morning workouts, coaching youth sports, golf, and following a range of sports.

Jessie Johnson
Jessie joined Defiance Capital in 2026 to support both the DSCR and Bridge loan programs, bringing more than 25 years of experience in retail banking. Her background is rooted in client care, with a focus on responsiveness, clarity, and making each interaction efficient and straightforward.
She understands the demands real estate investors face and is committed to keeping the lending process smooth and predictable. Jessie also works alongside Jake to expand Defiance Capital’s presence in western Colorado and the Roaring Fork Valley.

Josh Rubin
Josh joined Defiance Capital in 2023 to help launch and grow the 30-year DSCR loan program. With eight years of experience in retail banking, he brings a strong focus on responsiveness and making the lending process straightforward for investors.
He works closely with clients on DSCR loans, helping streamline the refinance process, and supports the day-to-day execution of the bridge loan business alongside Jake.
Outside of work, Josh enjoys spending time with his dog, staying active, and getting out to snowboard when he can.

Rebecca Cain
Rebecca joined the Defiance Capital team in 2025 to support bridge loan operations. She brings experience across several disciplines, including long-cycle asset finance, marketing, and consulting, giving her a well-rounded perspective on client service and communication.
Rebecca is committed to creating a responsive, straightforward experience for borrowers throughout the lending process. She values clear communication, attention to detail, and helping clients feel supported from application through closing.
Outside of work, Rebecca stays busy spending time with her family and supporting a variety of volunteer commitments, including her university alma mater and Girl Scouts.

Mark Spidell
Mark partnered with Jake to launch Defiance Capital in 2020, bringing over 25 years of experience across consulting, wealth management, commercial banking, and private lending diligence.
He has advised both regional and Wall Street lenders and brings a disciplined, analytical perspective to underwriting and loan structure. In addition to his lending experience, Mark is an active real estate investor with over $17 million in assets under management, providing direct insight into the realities of investment projects.
Outside of work, Mark enjoys time outdoors, staying active, and following sports.
